Good Shepherd Cathedral School (GSCS), formerly known as Good Shepherd Parish Academy (GSPA), began as a preschool in 1995. The erstwhile pastor of the Good Shepherd Parish, Msgr. Fidelis Ruben F. Limcaco, with Dr. Carina G. Dacanay as the School Principal, founded it simply as Good Shepherd Parish Learning Center. As Msgr. Fidelis’ brainchild, GSPA was a big part of the many beautiful and meaningful projects he accomplished during his twenty-seven (27) years of pastoral service to the parishioners and residents of Fairview.
On August 1, 2002, upon the retirement of Msgr. Limcaco, Msgr. Jesus Romulo C. Rañada took over the directorship of the Academy. The school, already with recognition from the Department of Education for its preschool and grade school, expanded further to offer junior high school in the curriculum and a Center for Integral Evangelization. It was also during Msgr. Rañada’s term that the High School department got government recognition, the four-storey building was constructed, and the parish was elevated to the status of the Cathedral of the newly established Diocese of Novaliches. The school was then renamed to Good Shepherd Cathedral School.
On May 13, 2007, Most Rev. Antonio R. Tobias, D.D., then Bishop of Novaliches, appointed Rev. Fr. Albert N. Delvo as the new School Director of the Cathedral School and superintendent of all the schools of the Diocese of Novaliches. GSCS has continuously grown to welcome a steadily growing number of students in Pre-school, Elementary and High School. To accommodate the increasing number of students, a new four-storey HEART (Acronym for His Excellency Antonio R. Tobias) building, and another extension building were constructed to offer fully air-conditioned classrooms and e-learning facilities, a library with an audio-visual room, a speech laboratory, a well-equipped H.E. room, a bigger canteen, and a suitably comfortable playground which our learners highly deserve.
During School Year 2013–2014, GSCS was given certification by the Private Education Assistance Committee - Fund for Assistance to Private Education (PEAC-FAPE). The certification serves as a quality assurance that the school complies with the minimum standards set by the Department of Education and qualifies it to the Educational Service Contracting (ESC) Program of the government.
On November 17–18, 2014, the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges, and Universities (PAASCU) conducted its preliminary visit to GSCS as part of the school's accreditation of its integrated basic education program. The following year, the school was given a "candidate status" by PAASCU.
In 2015, the school was granted permit by the Department of Education to offer Senior High School (Grades 11 and 12) beginning School Year 2016–2017. It was also during this year that the current vision-mission and core values of the school were introduced.
On September 11-12, 2017, PAASCU conducted its formal visit to GSCS which paved the way for the school to be given a Level I accreditation on November of the same year.
In 2022, upon the retirement of Dr. Dacanay, Rev. Fr. Noel V. Elorde, Vice Director for Catholic Christian Formation of the Roman Catholic Bishop of Novaliches Educational System (RCBNES), was appointed as new School Principal of GSCS. It was also during this year that the school was given a Level II re-accreditation by PAASCU that is valid until 2027.
Facilitated by competent educators, GSCS uses Gospel Values with Religion as the core of the curriculum to develop not only the academic competence of the children but also to deepen their spirituality as well. Aligned with K to 12 educational curriculum of the government and enhanced by the implementation of the Whole Child Approach, GSCS continues to work in achieving its mission of providing all our students with an excellent Catholic Education and formation in Catholic faith and values.
